I Wanted to Learn It All… But It Almost Burnt Me Out

When I started designing, one of my biggest struggles was choosing my niche. I wanted to learn it all—UI/UX, frontend development, animation, branding, Webflow, Framer, Flutter, even copywriting.
I thought the more I knew, the faster I’d grow.
But what actually happened?
Burnout. Confusion. Impostor syndrome.
I kept jumping from one thing to another without truly mastering anything. I was everywhere… but nowhere.
I wish someone had told me this earlier:
Pick one lane and stay in it—at least long enough to gain clarity.
You don’t need to stick with one thing forever. But you do need focus to build momentum.
Now, I’m a website and mobile app designer.
- I can design flyers and social media posts.
- I’ve written and published ebooks.
- I know how to set up Shopify stores for businesses.
- I’ve learned HTML and CSS from curiosity and projects.
- I’m a Framer expert, from CMS, components, variables, and custom code to building fully responsive sites.
- Right now, I’m learning Rive to take my motion design skills to the next level.
But guess what?
I took my learning one step at a time.
One skill. One tool. One project. One season.
So if you’re feeling overwhelmed because you want to learn everything at once…
Take a deep breath.
Start with one thing. Get really good at it.
Clarity and confidence will follow.
